UNIMA Sri Lanka was founded in 2006. The initial ground work for the foundation was laid in 2003 with a small team which has presently grown to 17 members. The goal of the national centre and its members is to strive for the transmission of the Sri Lankan Puppet Art to the world. The current president of the National Centre for the year 2023/4 is Sarath Abeygunawardena.
